This morning I attending my usual networking meeting.  All of a sudden, I heard a comment which grabbed my attention - 'are happiness and joy the same thing or different?'.

A quick bit of research, and we discover, that maybe they are not quite as similar as we may first think...

Joy, it would seem, is a more consistent feeling, and cultivated internally. Typically coming when you are at peace with yourself, when you just feel glad to be you.

Happiness on the other hand is more of an external feeling, impacted by others, thoughts, things, and experiences.

Whilst the world around us can (and usually does) have a huge impact on how we feel, and so may be seen to be a huge driver of happiness, it is how we choose to interpret these things  and how they will internally affect us, which either does or does not bring us closer to feeling joy.

So how do we get more joy ? Now that is another great question!
