Fitness trackers - everyone must be aware of them. Those wrist straps or belt clips which count your steps, calories burned, sleep, water intake etc.
What they give us, is far more than just a focus on fitness, it can also be a reflection on that huge question so often overlooked - 'is this worthwhile?'.
If you find yourself frantically busy every day, is that healthy? Are you too busy to take a 15 minute walk at lunchtime? "IT'S FRANTIC HERE, I CAN'T STOP". All we end up doing is charging (from our chair) headlong into burnout, exhaustion, and underperformance.
So what is the point of a fitness tracker you may ask! Well, it is that conscience, that check in, that reminder for you to move, to do something, to compare what you did yesterday. If nothing else, it may serve as a huge wake up call to demonstrate how little you do each day.
Once you know stuff, you can do something about it, but not knowing is ignorance, and in this case, ignorance is not bliss, it is dangerous. With the knowledge though, there is an opportunity of changing the here and now, and the future, and that itself may make all the difference.
Your life. Your money. Make it count.
